Thyme & Again Show

I have a solo show at Exposure Gallery (upstairs at Thyme & Again) this spring, where I'll be showing a selection of collages and prints on a food theme. The vernissage is the evening of April 12 — hope you can stop by to say hello!

Globe and Mail: Backwards Writing

I have an illustration in the February 9 2012 issue of the Globe and Mail, in the Facts and Arguments section. It accompanies an article by Hope Smith, who writes about being left-handed and creativity — and her nifty party trick, which is the ability to write backwards (like Leonardo da Vinci used to do). What made this illustration job particularly fun was the fact that the writer is left-handed, the art director who assigned this to me was left-handed, and I myself am left-handed.

Globe and Mail: Rereading Dickens

When I was asked to do a portrait of Charles Dickens for the cover of the January 28 2012 Books section of the Globe and Mail newspaper, I came up with the concept of Dickens as phoenix, rediscovered by each generation of readers (or reread after a gap of many years, as is the case in the article). Read the story here.

Globe and Mail: Grammar

An illustration for the January 3 2012 Facts and Arguments column in the Globe and Mail, about a woman who finds herself increasingly sensitive to the increasingly frequent lack of proper grammar as her two small boys (aged 3 and 5) learn to speak in sentences.
