Words of Wisdom (I Hope)

This week I did an email interview with Jessie Cacciola, editor-in-chief of Imprint Magazine, an online mag by and for a national (U.S.) college student audience. The interview will appear in the February issue, in a section called "The Professionals," which uses a Q&A format to ask people in various professions about how they got started and what they do. It was fun and interesting to do, and now all I have to do is hope I don't sound daft once it's in print. The illustration below, incidentally, was one of a series of four that I did for Selling Power magazine.

Golly.

I've just discovered that Todd Falkowsky of the Canadian Design Resource wrote a lovely post about my work back in November, which was (and is) a totally unexpected honour. The Hallowe'en illustration below is the piece that was featured. You can read the post here. Thanks, Todd!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and the very best and brightest in 2009, too.  And now, the annual Christmas card from Andrew and me.

Christmas Spirit

A lovely story by Laurie Brown in the Globe and Mail about rediscovering the spirit of Christmas. After the distractions and anxieties of preparing a happy holiday experience for her family, a happy childhood memory is recalled late at night on Christmas Eve upon seeing a solitary man being pulled along down the snow-covered street by a large sleigh-belled dog, reminding her of childhood Christmas Eves spent listening eagerly for the sound of sleigh bells on the roof.

Christmas in Rehab

There were two illustrations done for this Christmas Globe and Mail story — the main one (top) and the inside piece (bottom). It's by a writer relating how she is spending the Christmas holidays in rehab so she can avoid the excesses and temptations of the season and keep her commitment to sobriety.
